 Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-born actress, model, and entrepreneur. Vergara was born on born July 10, 1972 in Barranquilla, Atlantico, Colombia to Margarita Vergara Davila de Vergara, a homemaker and Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo, who produced cattle for the meat industry. She has five brothers and sisters and many cousins.
Vergara was married at the age of 18 to her childhood sweetheart, and she gave birth to her son Manolo Gonzalez-Ripoll Vergara September 16, 1992 at the age of 20. The couple divorced later. In 2002, she was diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer. Vergara has been nominated for a Prime time Emmy Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award.
